Untold Stories Under the Open Sky
Bangladesh has experienced one of the highest urban population growth rates (approximately 7% per year) over the last three decades. Many homeless people in Dhaka have lost their houses and properties due to frequent flooding, river erosion, and other natural disasters. Dhaka, the capital, attracts an estimated 320,000 migrants from rural areas each year. These people have no place to take shelter in big cities. An estimated 3.4 million people live in the overcrowded slums of Dhaka, and many others live in public spaces without the most basic shelter. Their stories are often untold, reflecting the challenges of climate migration and rapid population growth.
