Serenity in Shadows and Faith
Rakher Upobash, a revered Hindu festival of light, faith, and devotion, draws thousands of devotees each year to the Shri Shri Lokenath Brahmachari Ashram temple. Held around the new moon in November, this celebration of illumination transforms the night into a luminous experience.
Devotees gather at the temple, where the darkness is gently dispelled by the soft, flickering glow of candles known as “Prodip.” Surrounded by this radiant light and fragrant incense, they immerse themselves in prayer, seeking blessings for the health and well-being of their loved ones. The ritual also includes fasting, symbolically referred to as “Rakh,” which embodies the spirit of Rakher Upobash and highlights the festival’s focus on light as a source of hope and spiritual enlightenment.
